Hanging on the wall, this is the classic gourd resonator that makes the sound at the HOME DANCE. The HEMIS MANAS scrape a bone scapula across the notched stick on top of the gourd for the sound. It's a hair raising sound when 20 or 40 MANAS do it in unison. WILSON TEWAQUAPTEWA painted this gourd and decorated the handle as a turtle head. This is a great example of his work. Ca. 1940, it is about 7 1/4 inches across. Price $1250.00
